Y10 DofE Group hit the Chase!
Friday 1st March 2019
This month, our Y10 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award pupils decided to swap the classroom for the forests of Cannock Chase, and take part in a charity bike to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The event was planned and set up by the pupils to help them achieve their volunteering section of their award.
The group came prepared. The weather was kind to us, but muddy and wet conditions from the night before made the experience a lot more of a challenge! In the end, the group covered over 22km off tough, muddy terrain; biking over moorland, through forests and valleys and splashing through rivers.
The pupils where amazing! They all had a positive attitude from the get go. Always with a smile on their face, it was challenge they thoroughly enjoyed. Hills and rivers would not stop this group from reaching the finish line. In fact, they are already planning their next ride! They definitely enjoyed their Wimpy burger on the way home.
The groups target was to raise £300 and donations are still being collected in. The pupils will now plan a day where we can visit the hospital and hand over our donations. We look forward to keeping you posted on our final total raised
